Linda Mosley
Linda grew up in a unique small country town in central Illinois. She discovered Japanese Arts in undergraduate school at the University of Illinois. As a ceramic art “major” she was particularly interested in Japanese ceramics used in chanoyu, Japanese tea ceremony. In 1975, she received a Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics degree and has taught pottery from primary to college levels and maintained a home studio since then.
In 1983, Linda studied Chado for one year with Mrs. Minnie Kubose in Chicago, Illinois. In 2009, she began studying with Dr. Sheila Fling and assisting with presenting Japanese tea ceremony to local groups in the Austin area. In 2024, Linda was given the chamei (tea name) Sōri 宗利, and rank of Sennin koushi, 2nd degree instructor, from Urasenke Chado Tankokai Foundation, Kyoto, Japan. She has taught classes at her home in Austin, Texas since 2019.
